Wolff wil vlammen in 2024: "Maar de stopwatch liegt nooit"

Het team van Mercedes werd dit jaar tweede in het constructeurskampioenschap, maar daar waren ze niet tevreden mee. Ze wisten geen race te winnen en ze azen op sportieve revanche. Teambaas Toto Wolff wil echter nog niet op de zaken vooruit gaan lopen.

Mercedes won ruim een jaar geleden voor het laatst een Grand Prix. In 2022 wist George Russell de Braziliaanse Grand Prix te winnen. Sindsdien zijn de zeges uitgebleven en wordt de prijzenkast niet uitgebreid. Mercedes vocht dit jaar vooral met Ferrari en McLaren, Red Bull Racing was simpelweg te snel voor de Duitse renstal. De tweede plaats in het constructeurskampioenschap was dan ook niets minder dan een doekje voor het bloeden.

Mercedes-teambaas Toto Wolff wil dan ook nog niet op de zaken vooruit gaan lopen. De Oostenrijker kiest ervoor om met beide benen op de grond te blijven staan. Wolff wordt geïnterviewd in een video op het YouTube-kanaal van zijn team Mercedes: "Ik weet nog niet hoe goed we zullen zijn, maar we gaan het zien tijdens de testdagen. Daarna zien we het wel in Bahrein en ik kan wel zeggen dat ik er enorm veel zin in heb. Ik zou het liefst nu al beginnen! Maar de stopwatch zal het ons vertellen, die liegt nooit."

    Wolff in schaapskleren. Hij heeft er alleen zin in wanneer hij de rest opvreet, anders is t weer jankende Wolff richting de FIA eurm maan

      Ze zijn allemaal ziek in hetzelfde bedje natuurlijk - gewoon eigen aan competitieve alpha mannetjes.

      Hoor positieve geluiden van de nieuwe W15. Sidepods nu 1 geheel met SIPs en als gevolg groter met betere outwash - een onderschat punt bij MB.. Compleet nieuwe voor- en achterophanging met elementen als anti-squash en anti-dive maar toch verschillend van RB. Vloer nu veel groter met nieuwe diffuser die de DF kracht homogeen en hoog moet houden. Betere software voor MGU-K en uiteraard aangepaste koeling door die andere sidepods met meer vermogen. Ook operationeel verandert er een en ander. Pitstop tools worden aangepast ook procedures qua strategie worden geoptimaliseerd. Ze werken zo wat op alle fronten en hadden hun fire up als eerste klaar voor volgend seizoen Of het voldoende zal zijn om mee te dingen om de kroon is nog even afwachten maar vermoed wel een fameuze stap vooruit.

    Mercedes en vlammen , dat is dan een combinatie van valsspel spelen door Toto Wolff en sir Jankelot Lewis Hamilton. Want zelfs als ze de RBR 19 compleet hebben gekopieerd dan moet Toto Wolff nog hulp krijgen van de FIA en de stewards om te winnen laten we er maar op gaan rekenen dat sir Jankelot Lewis Hamilton en Osama Bin Russell aankomend seizoen vaak concurrenten van de baan gaan rijden . En daarmee straffeloos wegkomen .
