Steiner wil dat FIA en FOM band verbeteren

In het afgelopen Formule 1-seizoen ontstond er enige onenigheid tussen de FIA en de FOM. Meerdere zaken zorgden voor een ijzige sfeer. Haas-teambaas Günther Steiner is hier niet blij mee, hij stelt dat de twee organisaties snel met elkaar om tafel moeten gaan.

FIA-president Mohammed Ben Sulayem zorgde dit jaar voor een aantal relletjes. Hij opende de deuren voor mogelijke nieuwe Formule 1-teams, terwijl de huidige teams en de FOM daar niet op zitten te wachten. Uiteindelijk gaf de FIA het team van Andretti groen licht, maar het is nog maar de vraag wat de FOM hiervan vindt. Eerder deze maand opende de FIA ook nog kortstondig een onderzoek naar Mercedes-teambaas Toto Wolff, tot ongenoegen van de teams en de FOM.

Haas-teambaas Günther Steiner is dan ook van mening dat er snel naar een oplossing moet worden gezocht. De Italiaan is hier duidelijk over in gesprek met Sky Sports: "Het is heel belangrijk voor de sport om tot een oplossing te komen. Zoals we hebben gezien zitten de teams op één lijn. De Formule 1 staat er als business en sport goed voor. Ook wat betreft het publiek. Daar hebben we geen afleiding voor nodig. Het is dus meer aan de FIA en aan de FOM om dit op te lossen."
