Newey blij met veeleisende Verstappen: "Makkelijke coureur"

Max Verstappen bezorgde Red Bull Racing in de afgelopen jaren een enorme hoeveelheid successen. De Nederlander is de absolute superster van de Formule 1 en bij Red Bull zijn ze tevreden. Adrian Newey stelt dat Verstappen veeleisend is, maar dat men makkelijk met hem kan werken.

Verstappen werd in 2023 met speels gemak wereldkampioen in de koningsklasse van de autosport. Het was zijn derde wereldtitel op rij en hij verbrak veel records. Hij oogstte veel lof en bij Red Bull gaven ze hem een daverend applaus. Zijn zeges oogden vaak simpel, maar bij het team hadden ze eerder in het weekend goed geluisterd naar de feedback van Verstappen. Toch wordt hij geloofd om zijn gedrag in de pitbox.

Veeleisend

Red Bulls topontwerper Adrian Newey is zeer in zijn sas met de samenwerking met Verstappen. De Britse ontwerper vindt het fijn om met Verstappen te werken en dat legt hij uit aan Motorsport.com: "Hij is een heel erg makkelijke coureur om mee samen te werken. Hij is natuurlijk wel veeleisend, dat absoluut. Maar zijn feedback is altijd goed, het is bij hem zeker niet te gecompliceerd."

Oplossingen

Volgens Newey zorgt Verstappen ervoor dat het team precies weet wat er moet gebeuren met de auto. De ontwerper gaat verder met zijn verhaal: "Max weet hoe hij uit moet drukken wat hij met de auto wil. Samen met zijn race-engineer Gianpiero Lambiase heeft hij het vertrouwen dat we met de juiste oplossingen zullen komen. Dat lukt niet altijd. De race in Singapore was daar een voorbeeld van. Maar we doen ons best."
