Verstappen leerde belangrijke les van Jos: "Talent doet de rest"

Het is geen geheim dat Max Verstappen veel lessen heeft geleerd van zijn vader Jos. De Red Bull Racing-coureur past deze lessen vaak in de praktijk toe. Graham Watson werkte met beide Verstappens samen en hij ziet dat Max Verstappen precies weet wat hij van zijn team moet vragen.

Max Verstappen beschikte afgelopen jaar bij Red Bull over een extreem snelle auto. De RB19 groeide uit tot een van de meest dominante auto's uit de geschiedenis van de Formule 1. Verstappen won een recordaantal van negentien Grands Prix en hij werd voor het derde seizoen op rij wereldkampioen. Hij was daarnaast veel sneller dan zijn teamgenoot Sergio Perez, men vroeg zich af of dit kwam door het talent van Verstappen of dat het werd veroorzaakt door het materiaal.

Benetton

Graham Watson werkte voor veel teams in de Formule 1. Hij werkte samen met Jos Verstappen bij Benetton en daar zag hij dat de Nederlander minder materiaal had dan zijn teamgenoot. Aan Formule 1 Magazine legt Watson uit wat Max Verstappen hiervan heeft geleerd: "Tot de dag van vandaag denk ik dat Jos geen eerlijke behandeling heeft gekregen bij Benetton. Dat heeft er mede voor gezorgd dat Max dat aspect van de sport heel goed begrijpt: hij hoeft geen beter materiaal, maar hij wil wel gelijkwaardig materiaal. Talent doet dan de rest."

Sainz

Watson werkte later ook met Max Verstappen samen bij het toenmalige Toro Rosso. Daar zag hij dat Verstappen gelijk zijn lessen toepaste: "Ik merkte dat meteen in het eerste jaar van Max bij ons met Carlos Sainz naast hem. Omdat ik ze allebei kende, wist ik dat Max de top dog zou zijn vanaf het moment dat hij in de auto stapte. Hij hoefde geen spelletjes te spelen. Max is gewoon ongelooflijk snel. Hij zei daar feitelijk mee dat hij alles doet om het team vooruit te helpen."

Het talent van Max is duidelijk aanwezig en is daarmee de beste op de grid.
We moeten de auto, het team en de motor van Honda ook niet uitvlakken natuurlijk.

Beide denk ik.
Het talent van Max is duidelijk aanwezig en is daarmee de beste op de grid.
We moeten de auto, het team en de motor van Honda ook niet uitvlakken natuurlijk.
En dat samen maakt een onverslaanbare combinatie.

Werkethiek noem je dat. Filmpje waarin te zien is dat Max als 10-jarige al hard werkt in de garage samen met Jos... dat leek al full-time met hart en ziel.
Dan wordt je niet snel nog gek gemaakt door wat er in de paddock gebeurt.

Het is bekend dat Max voor Kelly de nodige vriendinnen had. Kelly ook schijnt het.
Las net nog een leuk stukje over een paar vorige Braziliaanse vriendjes van Kelly:

announced that the Russian and Piquet were a couple.

Verder heeft ze vanaf 2016 en tijdens haar aan-en-uit relatie met Kvyat tot aan haar
relatie met Max een knipperlicht relatie met de Braziliaanse coureur Alexandre Negrão
(vriend van Nelson jr) gehad, terwijl deze getrouwd was (October 2017 till January 2021)
en in scheiding lag (om hem toen te steunen neem ik aan, want ze zijn nog steeds goede vrienden).
Deze keer lijkt ze de ware gevonden te hebben.
