De Vries denkt in kansen: "Iets hoeft geen einddoel te zijn"

Nyck de Vries heeft een zwaar jaar achter de rug. De Nederlander reed vorig jaar in de Formule 1 voor het team van AlphaTauri, maar halverwege het seizoen werd hij aan de kant geschoven. De Vries baalde, maar hij weet inmiddels dat er meer is in het leven dan de Formule 1.

De Vries werd met veel bombarie binnengehaald door het team van AlphaTauri. De Friese coureur had in 2022 indruk gemaakt tijdens een eenmalige invalbeurt bij het team van Williams. Maar in dienst van AlphaTauri reed De Vries geen deuk in een pakje boter. Het kostte hem zijn stoeltje en zijn Formule 1-droom spatte uiteen. Toch was er veel aandacht voor hem, want hij rijdt dit jaar voor het hypercar-team van Toyota in het WEC en hij heeft ook een zitje in de Formule E.

De Vries ging echter niet in een hoekje zitten huilen. Hij keek naar zijn mogelijkheden en hij tekende dus twee contracten. In gesprek met Formule 1 Magazine legt hij uit dat hij alweer snel aan mogelijkheden dacht: "Ik leerde dat iets niet een einddoel hoeft te zijn. Want waar een deur dicht gaat, gaat er weer een andere deur open. Je moet doorpakken. Wat heeft het voor zin om negatief te doen of lang in een teleurstelling te blijven hangen? Dat schiet niet op. We zijn bevoorrecht als coureurs, op naar nieuwe mooie dingen."

Heel mooi dat Nyck de Vries zijn racecarrière een vervolg heeft kunnen geven in andere series maar van mij mag hij nu weer de mediastilte opzoeken...

  Heb net het originele bericht gelezen, gelukkig staan daar slechts twee quotes in, die van gisteren (De Vries kijkt vooruit: "Ben nog steeds dezelfde persoon") en die van vandaag.
