Villeneuve leeft mee met overwerkt Formule 1-personeel

De Formule 1-medewerkers bereiden zich tijdens deze maanden voor op een extreem druk seizoen. Dit jaar staat er een recordaantal van 24 Grands Prix op de planning en dat betekent dat men veel van huis zal zijn. Jacques Villeneuve leeft mee met de medewerkers en hij kijkt naar het verleden.

De Formule 1 is momenteel razend populair en de daar plukt men de vruchten van. De kalender telt aankomend seizoen een recordaantal van 24 Grands Prix en er worden ook meerdere sprintraces verreden. Daarnaast staat er ook weer een aantal triple headers op het programma. Het zorgt voor veel zorgen, want men vreest voor de gezondheid van de coureurs en de monteurs. Vorig jaar sloten veel medewerkers het jaar al ziek af door het vele reizen.

Ook enkelvoudig wereldkampioen Jacques Villeneuve maakt zich veel zorgen. De Canadees vergelijkt de huidige situatie met vroeger in gesprek met PlanetF1: "Als je terugkijkt naar de dagen met het testen, dan waren er minder races maar, meer tests. Het aantal afgelegde kilometers en dagen op het circuit waren toen veel hoger voor de coureurs, maar je had twee teams. Je had een testteam en een raceteam. De engineers konden toen gewoon naar huis en weer terug. Nu is het gewoon loodzwaar geworden voor de engineers."

Hij heeft gewoon gelijk, een raceseizoen is gewoon hard werken en veel reizen, vooral het reizen wordt nogal eens onderschat, op een gegeven moment komt dat gevlieg je de strot uit.
Een winterpauze is dan hard nodig om weer op te laden.
