Leclerc hoopvol na eerste kennismaking met SF-24

Het team van Ferrari ging vandaag direct de baan op met de nieuwe SF-24. Carlos Sainz en Charles Leclerc namen allebei plaats in de cockpit en dat geeft ze veel vertrouwen. Leclerc stelt dat de eerste indrukken hem het gevoel hebben gegeven wat hij wilde.

Leclerc kende vorig jaar een lastig seizoen in de Formule 1. De Monegask kreeg weer veelvuldig te maken met pech en dat kostte hem veel goede resultaten. Toch heeft Leclerc nog veel vertrouwen in Ferrari, hij verlengde begin dit jaar zijn contract en hij wil de interne strijd met Lewis Hamilton vanaf volgend jaar vol aangaan. De Monegask zag ook al snel dat de SF-24 voldoet aan zijn eisen.

Ferrari presenteerde de wagen vandaag door middel van een korte video. Vlak daarna betraden Sainz en Leclerc de baan. Laatstgenoemde spreekt zich tevreden uit in een persbericht van het team: "De SF-24 moet minder gevoelig en beter te besturen zijn. Dat hebben wij als coureurs nodig om goed te kunnen presteren. Ik verwacht dat de auto een stap voorwaarts is op meerdere gebieden. De eerste indruk die ik uit de simulator heb, geeft mij het gevoel dat dit is wat we wilden. Dit seizoen willen we altijd vooraan meedoen. Dat willen we ook voor de fans, want als we winnen dan zullen we de zege aan hen opdragen."

    Hoopvol keek Leclerc naar de onthulling van de wagen.
    Gelukkig is hij rood en voldoet daarom aan de verwachting van de Monegask.

    en aan het einde van het seizoen is het: Ja, al vanaf het begin voelde het al niet goed. Bij de eerste kennismaking had ik al het gevoel dat er iets mis wat en dat de correlatie niet klopt. Blah blah blah.

    In een simulator kun je de auto precies zo aan laten voelen als gewenst door de coureur. Kwestie van parameters instellen. In het echie ligt dat toch even anders. Dus hoe voelt dat nieuwe hok nu aan op de baan? Dat kunnen ze nog niet zeggen want dit is alleen maar een presentatie model en niet "the real thing.".
    Be benieuwd of er morgen vanuit RedBull ook een dergelijk nietszeggend statement naar buiten komt.

      Als een zwaar getergde Sainz dit seizoen gehakt maakt van Leclerc, en Leclerc volgend seizoen van Lewis dan kunnen ze mij wegdragen hiero! ;)

      Dat valt best mee, twee keer Sainz...

      1. Sainz hoopt dat het gedrag van de bolide compleet anders zal zijn. Met de vernieuwde auto hoopt de Spanjaard in zijn laatste seizoen bij Ferrari mee te kunnen doen om de titel.
      "De auto van vorig jaar was niet goed genoeg om voor het wereldkampioenschap te vechten en het doel dit jaar is om opnieuw een kans te hebben om Red Bull uit te dagen. Voorlopig voel ik positieve dingen vanuit de simulator; maar tot we zien waar onze rivalen staan, is het allemaal erg lastig om in te schatten."

      2. Sainz kan beamen dat de auto in de simulator anders aanvoelt. Dat moet zich nog gaan vertalen naar het circuit, maar de Madrileen is positief gestemd.
      "Ik ben ervan overtuigd dat deze auto in die zin een stap vooruit zal zijn."
      De tijd zal leren of de stap voldoende is, zeker nu de concurrentie ook steeds dichterbij lijkt te komen.
      "In de tweede seizoenshelft zat de hele grid soms binnen een seconde in Q1 en Q2. Daarom moeten we oplettend zijn en ons richten op alle kleine details die het verschil kunnen maken", aldus Sainz.
