Horner looft Hamilton-transfer: "Jammer dat we moeten wachten"

Lewis Hamilton staat aan de vooravond van een bijzonder seizoen in de Formule 1. Hij stapt volgend jaar immers over naar het team van Ferrari, maar dat betekent dus ook dat hij eerst nog een jaar bij Mercedes moet rijden. Christian Horner vindt het jammer dat de wereld tot 2025 moet wachten om Hamilton in het scharlakenrood te zien.

Hamilton heeft er nooit een geheim van gemaakt dat hij Mercedes tot het einde van zijn loopbaan trouw wil blijven. Het was voor veel mensen dan ook een grote verrassing toen hij onthulde dat hij per 2025 voor het team van Ferrari gaat rijden. Hij sprak zelf van een jeugddroom die hij in vervulling gaat brengen, maar hij laat hiervoor wel zijn vrienden van Mercedes achter. Het nieuws zorgde in ieder geval voor veel verbazing in de koningsklasse.

Timing

Ook bij het team van Red Bull Racing was men verbaasd door de transfer. Teambaas Christian Horner vindt het een mooie transfer en die mening legt hij uit aan de internationale media: "De timing van het nieuws is nogal ongewoon en het zal voor heel wat mensen een verrassing zijn geweest, waaronder misschien ook wel voor zijn huidige werkgever. Lewis deinsde echter nooit terug voor gewaagde keuzes. Hij stapte eerder al over van McLaren naar Mercedes, een team dat toen niet heel erg hoog werd ingeschat. Uiteindelijk bleek het wel de juiste keuze te zijn."

Jammer

De wereld moet echter nog wel wat geduld hebben. Hamilton maakt immers het aanstaande seizoen nog gewoon af bij het team van Mercedes. Horner baalt hier stiekem wel een beetje van: "Het is mij duidelijk dat hij bij Ferrari iets heeft gezien wat hem doet denken dat hij daar beter zit dan waar hij nu zit. Ik denk dat het voor de Formule 1 geweldig is om Hamilton en Ferrari samen zien te werken. Het is alleen wel jammer dat wel hiervoor tot 2025 moeten wachten."

Hoewel Hamilton dus grote successen heeft geboekt bij Mercedes, zijn de laatste twee seizoenen erg lastig geweest voor de Brit. Dit is mede de reden voor zijn vertrek naar Ferrari. De laatste overwinning van Hamilton werd behaald op 5 december van 2021, maar volgens de zevenvoudig wereldkampioen zorgt dat er alleen maar voor dat het team meer gemotiveerd is om dit laatste seizoen samen goed af te sluiten.

  Haha, momenteel wacht ik vooral op updates rond het schandaal van Horny. De gekte rond Lewis in de Ferrari komt wel als het eenmaal zover is.

Als Sainz idd _nu_ gewoon van stoel ruilt met Hamilton, scheelt beiden een jaartje aanmodderen. Hoewel de eerste niet de luxe heeft omdat zijn F1 toekomst nog niet in kannen en kruiken is... Voor hem staat de druk er vol op.
Zal niet betekenen dat Hamilton maar wat aan gaat prutsen bij Ferrari maar hij hoeft niks meer te bewijzen. Lukt het is het prachtig, lukt het niet, nog ja eerlijk, dat zou me toch tegenvallen, maar dan nog is er geen man overboord....

  Lukt het niet bij Ferrari dan zijn er wat opties die we gaan horen:
  - De Ferrari is nog steeds geen WK-auto.
  - Hamilton is te oud.
  - Het is nogmaals bevestigd, alleen dankzij de auto (inclusief raketmotor) kon Hamilton zo vaak WK worden.
  
  Vooral het laatste zal Lewis niet bevallen...

  Ik _durf_ er eigenlijk niet al teveel van te verwachten, succes voor Ferrari & Hamilton.
  
  Alleen het stuk over de raket motor mee oneens. Ik heb er zwaar de P in dat Hamilton dat dus alleen maar kon met die raket motor icm de beste auto. Bij Verstappen ligt het nooit aan de auto, bij hem komt het gewoon omdat hij zo goed is, aldus vele van zijn fans. De dubbele standaard (waar ik zelf ook patent op lijk te hebben, begrijp me niet verkeerd.)
  
  Voorspelling: incidenteel wat dagsuccessen vanaf 2025 en hopelijk minimaal vice kampioen zoals Alonso twee keer net naast de prijzen greep.

Het kan natuurlijk ook dat lewis juist bij Mercedes heeft gezien waaruit hij concludeerde dat hij bij Ferrari beter zit. We weten het niet he? Overigens wordt zijn laatste jaar bij Mercedes ook interessant om te volgen. En daarna zijn overstap. Dat worden 2 interessante jaren.
