Grosjean: "Teamgenoot van Kimi maakt contract nog specialer"

Het tweede stoeltje bij Lotus Renault naast Kimi Raikkonen is nog altijd niet vergeven. Romain Grosjean is één van de grootste kandidaten om Vitaly Petrov op te volgen bij het team. De GP2-kampioen hoopt natuurlijk volgend jaar te kunnen racen in de Formule 1 en hecht nog meer waarde aan een contract bij Lotus Renault nu Raikkonen al bevestigd is.

"Ik sta nog altijd op het lijstje en ik hoop dat ik het stoeltje ga krijgen", vertelde Grosjean vanaf de Race of Champions in Dusseldorf. "Ik droom over de Formule 1 en wil graag terugkeren. Het zou erg speciaal zijn als ik de teamgenoot kan worden van Kimi, dat zou een goede ervaring zijn. Ik heb alles gedaan wat ik kon en kan nu alleen nog maar wachten."

Grosjean vind het een verstandige beslissing van Lotus Renault om Raikkonen aan te trekken voor 2012, ondanks diens tweejarige afwezigheid. "Op het gebied van media en marketing is het een erg goed beslissing. Niemand verwachtte het ook, zelfs ik niet. Ze hadden me er van tevoren wel wat over verteld, maar ook ik was verrast. Voor het team is dit echter goed voor de toekomst."
