Sauber concludeert: "C31 beste auto die we ooit gemaakt hebben"

Het team van Sauber kan zijn geluk niet op in 2012. De Zwitserse renstal betrad al twee maal het podium en mocht in Maleisië zelfs ruiken aan de overwinning. Teambaas Peter Sauber zwaait de auto in Blick alle lof toe: "De C31 is de beste auto van Sauber sinds we in 1993 toetraden tot de Formule 1."

Hij vervolgt: "Ik hecht nog meer waarde aan resultaat in Canada dan aan de tweede plek in Sepang. Montreal was een normale race zonder regen, zonder safety car-situaties en met maar één uitvaller voor Sergio Perez. Vijfenzeventig procent van het succes komt op conto van de aerodynamica, veel opponenten benijden ons."

Bahrein en Monaco waren wat dat betreft frustrerende uitzonderingen, tot irritatie van Peter Sauber. "Het is balen. De C31 is ideaal voor alle soorten circuits. We zijn overal competitief. Of de coureurs onze zwakke plek zijn vind ik een moeilijke vraag. Ik hou van de insteek van Kamui Kobayashi en hij gaat zeker nog succes voor ons boeken. En Sergio Perez is snel en kan goed overweg met de banden. In je tweede jaar mag je nog fouten maken, maar dat betekent niet dat ik het leuk vind."
