Veiling Ferrari levert 1,8 miljoen op voor aardbevingslachtoffers

Ferrari heeft met een veiling voor de slachtoffers en nabestaanden van de twee aardbevingen in Italië van vorige maand 1,8 miljoen dollar ingezameld. Het pronkstuk, een Ferrari 599XX, ging voor 1,4 miljoen onder de hamer. Een Amerikaanse klant kocht de auto, en Fernando Alonso en Felipe Massa overhandigen de bolide bij de Italiaanse Grand Prix aan de nieuwe eigenaar.

Een neus van een Ferrari F60 Formule 1-auto bracht 23.000 euro op en een motor uit de F2008 werd verkocht voor 80.000 euro. De volledige opbrengst gaat naar de slachtoffers, nabestaanden en hun families. Ferrari-president Luca di Montezemolo: "Een prachtig resultaat; pole position waardig. Ik wist dat ik op de vrijgevigheid van de Ferraristi kon rekenen, maar nog hebben ze me weten te verbazen. Ik bedank alle klanten, verzamelaars en enthousiastelingen voor hun bijdrage. Hun biedingen hebben een boodschap van warmte en solidariteit gestuurd naar onze door tragedie getroffen regio."
