Buddh International Circuit vernoemt kerbstones naar Massa

Een noviteit in de Formule 1, India heeft de primeur van het koppelen van de naam van een coureur aan specifieke kerbstones. De kerbstones aan de binnenkant van bocht 8 gaan voortaan door het leven als de Massa-kerbs, een verwijzing naar Ferrari-rijder Felipe Massa.

De Braziliaan ging tijdens het eerste Grand Prix-weekend in India vorig jaar twee maal te hard over die kerbstones, reed zodoende zijn voorwielophanging kapot en crashte. Massa hoeft zich weinig zorgen te maken over herhaling. De organisatie in India vlakt de kerbstones wat af naar een hoogte van 25 millimeter. De maximaal toegestane hoogte van de randstenen bedraagt 50 millimeter. Verder is op Buddh International wat kunstgras aangelegd aan de buitenkant van bochten 2, 3, 7 en 8, en zijn de hekken langs de baan van bocht 11 tot en met bocht 16 verhoogd.
