Lotus en Sauber vrolijk na positieve eerste testweek

De teams van Lotus en Sauber nemen met plezier allerlei loftuitingen in ontvangst aan de hand van de eerste test van 2013. Red Bull Racing-teambaas Christian Horner sprak na Jerez met Auto Motor und Sport: "Lotus en Sauber lieten de beste indruk achter, de rest is moeilijk te beoordelen."

Nico Hulkenberg liep in het zuiden van Spanje een week lang met een grote glimlach op zijn gezicht rond. De Sauber C32 presteert vooral sterk in de snelle bochten. Volgens Blick vertrouwde Hulkenberg zijn engineers en monteurs toe: "Deze auto gaat als de duivel."

Bij Lotus was iedereen eveneens in opgewekte stemming. Romain Grosjean en Kimi Raikkonen voerden beiden een dag de tijdenlijst aan. "We waren aardig verbaasd over ons vormpeil. Ik denk dat iedereen mijn grote glimlach heeft kunnen zien", aldus Grosjean tegenover RMC Sport.
