Lotus kondigt opleidingsprogramma met zeven coureurs aan

Het team van Lotus probeert vanaf dit jaar zelf talenten op te leiden. De Britse renstal heeft een opleidingsprogramma in het leven geroepen en dat omvat in 2013 zeven jonge coureurs. De lijst bestaat uit Kevin Sorensen (22 jaar, Denemarken), Marlon Stockinger (21 jaar, Filipijnen), Alex Fontana (20 jaar, Zwitserland), Oscar Tunjo (17 jaar, Colombia), Esteban Ocon (16 jaar, Frankrijk), Alexander Albon (16 jaar) en Dorian Boccolacci (14 jaar, Frankrijk).

Lotus-teambaas Eric Boullier: "Lotus F1 Junior Team borduurt voort op onze vorige i-Race Professional-academie en volgt de lijn van de Formule 1-tak en de rest van onze associatie. We hebben zeven zeer getalenteerde rijders aangekondigd, van wie velen het tegen een teamgenoot uit de opleiding op zullen nemen. We bieden een diepgaand en zeer nuttige trainingregime om deze coureurs aan te moedigen om zich te ontwikkelen en op hun piek te presteren. Autosport kan zeer ontmoedigend zijn voor jonge rijders, met name alle activiteiten naast de baan, en ook op dat vlak proberen we ze zo goed mogelijk te prepareren voor toekomstige carrières."
