Tussenstand: Ongelukjes Grosjean en Gutierrez in nat Barcelona

Net als aan het einde van de tweede testweek vormt regen een flinke spelbreker voor de teams en coureurs aan het begin van de derde en laatste testsessie. Neerslag teisterde het Circuit de Catalunya nabij Barcelona geregeld op de eerste ochtend, waardoor van serieus testwerk weinig sprake is.

Lewis Hamilton voert de rangen voorlopig aan, met een 1:41.614. Ter vergelijking, de beste tijd van vorige week was bijna twintig seconden sneller. Felipe Massa is de enige andere rijder in de 1:41. Jean-Eric Vergne completeert de top drie.

Dat een ongeluk in een klein hoekje zit in deze verraderlijke omstandigheden, ondervonden Romain Grosjean en Esteban Gutierrez. Grosjean spinde in het eerste uur in bocht 12 van de baan. Gutierrez schoot in het laatste uur voor de onderbreking rechtdoor in bocht 3 de bandenstapels in.
