McLaren-coureur Sergio Perez verheugt zich op het Europese deel van het Formule 1-seizoen. Niet alleen omdat zijn werkgever dan sneller updates kan introduceren om de MP4-28 te verbeteren, maar ook omdat de koningsklasse van de autosport in Europa terug keert naar haar wortels. Hier is de kiem gelegd voor de Formule 1 zoals de Formule 1 nu is.

Perez waardeert dat. "Ik kijk er absoluut naar uit! Europa is echt de bakermat van de Formule 1, elk circuit staat bol van de historie. Banen als Monaco, Silverstone, Spa-Francorchamps en Monza prijken sinds de begindagen van deze sport op de kalender. Het is geweldig dat we nog steeds op circuits racen die de geschiedenis van de Formule 1 vertegenwoordigen. Dat mag nooit verloren gaan."

"Het is heerlijk om bij McLaren te werken. De ervaring heeft mijn stoutste verwachtingen overtroffen. Iedereen is zo aardig voor me en ik voel me al helemaal thuis. Na een moeizame start van het seizoen zijn we allemaal verenigd om het team terug te brengen naar het niveau waar het thuis hoort. Hopelijk hebben we het ergste achter de rug en gaat het in Europa beter."
