Grootverdiener Alonso duldt Beckham en Federer voor zich

De naam van Ferrari-coureur Fernando Alonso is weer eens hoog genoteerd op een lijstje van best betaalde internationale sporters. De Spanjaard zou volgens het blad Sports Illustrated ongeveer 42 miljoen dollar incasseren in 2013. Dat is inclusief salaris en andere inkomsten.

Daarmee staat Alonso derde, achter voetballer David Beckham (48 miljoen) en tennisser Roger Federer (43 miljoen). Sports Illustrated heeft de Amerikaanse atleten voor het gemak buiten beschouwing gelaten. Lewis Hamilton van Mercedes bezet de elfde plaats met een geschat inkomen van 24 miljoen dollar. De gestopte zevenvoudig wereldkampioen Michael Schumacher doet met 20 miljoen dollar niet veel voor zijn voormalige collega onder.
