Massa: "Ruimte voor verbetering, met name in kwalificaties"

Het team van Ferrari kan redelijk tevreden terugkijken op de eerste vijf Grands Prix van 2013. De Scuderia won al twee maal en doet volop mee in de titelstrijd. Om die sterke start een passend vervolg te geven is het wel van belang om beter te kwalificeren, benadrukt Felipe Massa.

"Over het algemeen is het begin van het seizoen positief. In sommige races hebben we zeer goed gepresteerd. In andere weekenden, zoals in Bahrein, hadden we wat problemen en dat heeft ons veel punten gekost. Over de hele lijn zijn we beter dit jaar, van de auto tot de wijze waarop het team werkt. We zijn competitief, maar er is nog ruimte voor verbetering, met name in de kwalificaties. Daar zijn we ons bewust van en we zijn er volop mee bezig."

Haast is geboden, want komend weekend in Monaco is de kwalificatie extra van belang. Massa: "Deze baan bevalt me wel, deels omdat het mijn tweede thuisrace is, aangezien ik hier woon. Je toucheert continu de limiet, dicht langs de vangrails, elk foutje is fataal. De startpositie is belangrijker dan waar dan ook en dus hopen we het zaterdag goed te doen. Mijn doel is simpel, aanspraak maken op het podium."
