Williams ontbeert middelen om aandelen Wolff terug te kopen

Toto Wolff is motorsportbaas bij Mercedes, aandeelhouder bij Williams en zetelt in de raad van bestuur bij HWA. De Oostenrijker draagt veel verschillende petten, maar van belangenverstrengeling is geen sprake, zo benadrukt hij in Deutschlandfunk. Hij probeert al een tijdje zijn aandelen in Williams te slijten, maar de Britse renstal ontbeert de middelen om ze terug te kopen en een geschikte investeerder dient zich maar niet aan.

"Ik moet na de races steeds vragen waar Williams geëindigd is", begint Wolff. "Ik bekleed geen operationele functie binnen Williams meer, ik ben slechts aandeelhouder. Het proces om mijn betrokkenheid te verminderen is gaande, daardoor ben ik van mening dat belangenverstrengeling niet aan de orde is. Ik heb principes voor mijn manier van zaken doen en ondernemen. Daimler stelt dat erg op prijs, zo handelen we ook. Ik kan niet op eigen kracht iets beslissen of doen, alles gebeurt in overleg."
