Perez: "Steeds moeilijker om mooie resultaten te scoren"

Het team van McLaren krijgt het de komende maanden zwaar om nog hoog te eindigen. Dat vermoedt coureur Sergio Perez. De Mexicaan gelooft dat de topteams zich verder ontwikkelen en daardoor het gat met rest groeit. Hij doelt daarbij op de renstallen die nog volop verwikkeld zijn in de titelstrijd. De overige teams richten het vizier al op 2014.

Perez: "Het gevecht om het kampioenschap betekent dat de voorkant van de grid door gaat met de ontwikkeling van hun auto's terwijl de rest van de paddock al meer met 2014 bezig is. Dat houdt in dat het steeds moeilijker wordt om mooie resultaten en veel punten te scoren. Wij hebben wel updates, maar voornamelijk met het oog op volgend jaar. Toch hoop ik dat we ons pakket kunnen optimaliseren voor een van de zwaarste races van het seizoen, Singapore."

"Dat is een onvoorspelbaar evenement. Het vergt het uiterste van mens en machine. We gaan ons best doen om alles uit onze hoge downforce-afstelling te halen en hopelijk hebben we dan een auto die goed over de vele hobbels van deze baan gaat. Ik hou wel van stratencircuits, je kan de bochten echt aanvallen, dus ik kijk wel uit naar komend weekend."
