'Fiat bemoeit zich met sponsoring van wielerploeg Alonso'

De Italiaanse autofabrikant Fiat stapt wellicht als hoofdsponsor in bij de wielerploeg waarvan Ferrari-coureur Fernando Alonso recent de licentie kocht. Dat meldt El Periodico. Alonso is sinds een aantal weken eigenaar van de equipe Euskaltel-Euskadi.

Sindsdien gonst het van de geruchten welke geldschieters de Spanjaard ter zijde zullen staan in dat avontuur. De naam van de bank Santander valt geregeld en nu dus ook Fiat. Met sponsoring zou het moederbedrijf van Ferrari een signaal af kunnen geven dat de band met Alonso nog prima is. L'Equipe schrijft dat de Canadese fietsenmaker Cervelo en de Britse telecom-aanbieder Vodafone eveneens belangstelling hebben getoond om zich bij het team van Alonso aan te sluiten.
