Solberg: "Raikkonen dankzij rally's een betere coureur"

Kimi Raikkonen heeft in de Formule 1 profijt van zijn uitstapje naar de wereld van het rally rijden in de jaren 2010 en 2011. Dat gelooft rallycoureur Petter Solberg. Raikkonen beproefde zijn geluk in het WRC, maar hij maakte in 2012 zijn comeback in de Formule 1 bij Lotus.

Volgend jaar keert de Fin terug naar Ferrari. Solberg in Verdens Gang: "Ik ken Kimi en hij is door zijn rally-ervaring een betere coureur geworden. Alonso zal niet blij zijn met zijn komst. Maar Raikkonen is cool. Hij bestuurt de auto en dat is het."

Voormalig Ferrari-baas Cesare Fiorio plaatste in Tuttosport een kanttekening bij de beslissing van Ferrari om Raikkonen aan te trekken. "Ik bewonder het talent van Kimi, maar niet zijn levensstijl en zijn technische werk."

FIA-voorzitter Jean Todt schaart zich wel achter de beleidsbepalers in Maranello. "Ferrari is een instituut, zeer sterk. Ik ben er zeker van dat ze de komende jaren een hoog niveau tentoon spreiden. Ze weten altijd de juiste keuzes te maken", zei hij tegenover Italpress.
