Grosjean: "We wisten vanochtend dat we sterk waren"

Romain Grosjean lijkt langzaam aan weer iets beter te worden. Vorig jaar stond de Fransman vooral bekend als een grote en gevaarlijke brokkenpiloot. Sindsdien rijdt hij stabiel maar niet meer opvallend.

Na de zomerpauze lijkt het iets beter te gaan met de Lotus-coureur, die zichzelf vanmiddag naar een prima derde plaats kwalificeerde: "De wagen was vandaag goed. De derde plaats kan ik ook zeker niet slecht noemen. Vanochtend in de vrije training kregen we de bevestiging dat we heel snel waren, en dat is nu gebleken."

"De tijd die ik in Q1 kon neerzetten was al goed vond ik. Dat ik de derde plaats wist te halen komt door de goede strategie van het team, om in Q1 niet op een nieuw setje banden te rijden. Ik ben heel erg tevreden!"

Teamgenoot Raikkonen kwalificeerde zich tien plaatsen lager. De Fin heeft last van rugproblemen waardoor hij zich niet volledig kan geven en veel pijn heeft tijdens het rijden.
