De Vries pakt twee podiums in Hongarije

Rapax-coureur Nyck de Vries heeft na een aantal mindere races weer van zich doen spreken in de Formule 2. De jonge Nederlander pakte in beide Formule 2-races op de Hungaroring een podiumplaats. De coureur uit Sneek gaat zo met een goed gevoel de zomerstop in.

Na de kwalificatie was De Vries nog enigzins teleurgesteld met zijn zevende startplaats, maar in de race maakte hij alles goed. De eerste race werd besloten achter de Safety Car, nadat leider en uiteindelijk winnaar Oliver Rowland concurrent Artem Markelov op het gras drukte. Markelov kon zijn auto niet onder controle houden en reed de vangrails in.

In de tweede race mocht de Vries als zesde starten, maar na een goede start zag de jonge Nederlander zich terug op de derde plaats. De Vries rukte zelfs even op naar de tweede plaats, maar moest die plaats in de slotfase nog afstaan aan Oliver Rowland.

Charles Leclerc moest de hoofdrace vanaf achteraan starten, maar het bracht de kampioenschapsleider niet van de wijs. In de hoofdrace finishte Leclerc knap als vierde en op zondag was er wederom een podiumplaats. Ondanks zijn iets mindere weekend gaat Leclerc met 54 punten voorsprong de zomerstop in. Nyck de Vries is door zijn twee podia opgeklommen naar de achtste plaats in het kampioenschap.

De volgende races in de Formule 2 zijn in het weekend van 25 augustus, plaats van handeling is het circuit van Spa-Francorchamps.

Jammer dat Mclaren Nyck niet de test gunde. Norris is een super talent maar het zal nog wel wat jaren duren voordat hij daadwerkelijk in de f1 zal rijden.

Wie is momenteel eigenlijk reserve rijden?

  Trouwens, waarom hadden ze gister GP3 bekers tijdens de F2 race? Heb het vandaag niet gezien dus is mij niet opgevallen wat ze vandaag hadden, maar het viel mij gisteren zo op... Foutje?

  Button is toch niet ieder weekend aanwezig? Dus stel Alonso of stoffel gebeurt wat, dan is de kans toch groot op Nyck of niet?

Dat moet ik nog zien of Nicky de F1 haalt. Is helaas (vooral door omstandigheden overigens) te wisselvallig geweest.

En mijn gevoel zegt dat De Vries het ook niet van budget moet hebben wat helaas noodzakelijk is als je geen ultiem talent als een Ham of Ver bent.
