Latifi rijdt in 2019 opnieuw voor het team van DAMS

Nicholas Latifi zal in 2019 voor het vierde achtereenvolgende jaar gaan rijden in de Formule 2 voor het team van DAMS. De Canadees zal zijn rol bij het team van DAMS gaan combineren met zijn rol als reserverijder bij het Formule 1-team van Williams.

"Mijn doelen voor dit jaar zijn vrij duidelijk. Ik wil meedoen voor de rijderstitel en wil DAMS helpen om de constructeurstitel te winnen. We hebben het potentieel gehad om vooraan mee te vechten, maar we hebben begin 2018 wat pech gehad. Ik presteerde het beste in de laatste races, dus hopelijk kunnen we die sterke vorm doorzetten in 2019."

"Het rijden voor DAMS heeft me de mogelijkheid gegeven om mijn vaardigheden te tonen, wat ervoor heeft gezorgd dat ik ben opgepikt door Williams en ik ben enthousiast dat ik volgend seizoen weer terugkeer bij DAMS."

De oprichter van DAMS, Jean-Paul Driot, voegde daaraan toe: "We zijn er tevreden over dat we Nicholas ook voor volgend jaar weer kunnen verwelkomen. Hij herstelde zich van zijn ziekte aan het begin van het afgelopen seizoen en zijn prestaties in de tweede helft van het seizoen lieten zien dat hij in staat is om voor de titel te strijden. Net zoals altijd, is het ons doel om voor beide titels te strijden. Hij heeft al één voet in de Formule 1 en we zullen er alles aan doen om Nicholas te helpen aan een racezitje in de Formule 1. Zoals we ook hebben gedaan met Alexander Albon."
