Latifi wint op Hungaroring en loopt in op De Vries in titelstrijd

Nicholas Latifi heeft goede zaken gedaan in de hoofdrace van de Formule 2 in Hongarije. De DAMS-coureur wist de wedstrijd te winnen en verkleinde daarmee zijn achterstand in het kampioenschap op Nyck de Vries, die wel als tweede eindigde.

Latifi legde de basis voor zijn zege bij de start van de race. De Vries mocht vanaf pole position vertrekken, maar ging wijd in bocht 1 en zag de vanaf P3 gestarte Canadees voorbijkomen. Latifi kwam meteen in een goed ritme en liep weg bij de achtervolgers, die bestonden uit De Vries, Luca Ghiotto en Mick Schumacher. In ronde 7 opende de Nederlander het bal der pitstops, waarbij hij de softs verruilde voor mediums.

Latifi blijkt sterker op Hungaroring dan De Vries

De Vries probeerde daarmee druk te zetten op Latifi en dat lukte, want toen hij twee ronden later stopte, zat de coureur van ART Grand Prix nog maar enkele tienden achter de virtuele koploper. De DAMS-coureur bleek in het restant van de race echter beter om te gaan met het verkeer, bouwde een riante voorsprong op en kwam vervolgens achter de safety car als eerst over de finish op de Hungaroring.

De Vries beperkte de schade door de tweede positie te pakken, terwijl Jack Aitken namens Campos van P7 naar P3 op wist te klimmen in de hoofdrace. Sergio Sette Camara bekroonde een vergelijkbare inhaalrace met de vierde positie, voor Nobuharu Matsushita en Ghiotto. Jordan King bekroonde een tactisch slimme zet van MP Motorsport met P7, terwijl Mick Schumacher met de achtste positie de pole voor de sprintrace van zondag pakte. Ook Guanyu Zhou en Callum Ilott verzekerden zich van punten.

De vries is een pannenkoek hij verliest niet alleen de start dat kan nog gebeuren maar zijn race craft is gewoon niet snel genoeg er rijden op dit moment echt geen toptalenten in zoals Russel norris of een leclerc.
Hij is gewoon niet goed genoeg.

Toch jammer dat de Vries niet de winst heeft gepakt na zijn oppermachtige Pole Position van gisteren.

  De vries is een pannenkoek hij verliest niet alleen de start dat kan nog gebeuren maar zijn race craft is gewoon niet snel genoeg er rijden op dit moment echt geen toptalenten in zoals Russel norris of een leclerc.

Jammer van die remfout in bocht 1, maar voor de rest heeft Nyck een prima race gereden. Indrukwekkende race van Jordan King, die echt enorm veel pech had met de SC in de laatste paar rondjes.

Ik vond een aantal dingen niet sterk overkomen: De Vries, de regie en Schumacher.
@Edward M (en RJHvandaag): Die uitspraak betekent dus inherent dat Mick ook niet in de F1 thuis hoort. Die mening deel ik, alleen vrees ik dat ie er evengoed in getild gaat worden.
