Hoofdrace: Daruvala wint op Monza, Iwasa verliest P3 na diskwalificatie

Jehan Daruvala behaalde zijn eerste overwinning van het seizoen tijdens het thuisweekend van PREMA Racing in Monza op de zaterdagochtend. Van de zesde plaats hield de Indiër zijn hoofd koel in in zijn weg naar de overwinning.

In een race volop actie en gevechten baande Frederik Vesti zich een weg door de chaos om hem heen en pakte opnieuw een podium. Ayumu Iwasa kwam als derde over de meet, maar de Japanner werd na de wedstrijd gediskwalificeerd omdat zijn wagen niet aan de reglementen voldeed

Enzo Fittipaldi profiteerde daarvan nadat de Braziliaan een geweldige opmars had vanaf P15 en finishte voor Dennis Hauger, die in stijl herstelde van een drive-through-penalty omdat hij zijn banden niet had laten monteren na de waarschuwing van drie minuten voor de formatieronde.

Richard Verschoor finishte op P10, maar schoof ook een plaatsje op door de diskwalificatie van Iwasa. Kersvers kampioen Felipe Drugovich werd zesde na een DNF op de zaterdag. Rouwig zal de MP Motorsport-coureur niet zijn van dit matige weekend na het behaalde kampioenschap.

Het laatste F2-weekend is in Abu Dhabi van 18 tot en met 20 november. Bij de rijders is het kampioenschap beslist, maar bij de teams nog niet. MP Motorsport en ART Grand Prix hebben beiden 281 punten op de teller en Carlin doet ook nog mee met 258 punten. Er zijn voor de teams maximaal 65 punten nog te verdienen.
