Vietoris pakt pole op de Nurburgring

Christian Vietoris start morgen in race 1 van de Formule 3 Euro Serie vanaf pole position. In de kwalificatie was hij Nico Hulkenberg te snel af. Kampioenschapsleider Eduardo Mortara eindigt opnieuw achterin het veld. Robert Wickens is de enige die de eer van Volkswagen hoog kan houden met een plek in de top tien: hij eindigt als negende.

Veel ogen waren in de kwalificatie natuurlijk gericht op nieuwkomer Brendon Hartley, de jonge coureur uit het Britse kampioenschap dat RC Motorsport aan succes moet helpen. Echt indruk maakte hij nog niet met een 25e tijd, maar het gat naar de kop is slechts een ruime seconde.

De Nederlanders zitten er dit keer redelijk bij. Renger van der Zande eindigt als zevende, Henkie Waldschmidt wordt dertiende.
