Lancaster boekt eerste overwinning

Jon Lancaster heeft vandaag zijn eerste overwinning in de Euro Serie geboekt. Dankzij zijn zevende plek van gisteren mocht hij vandaag vanaf de tweede plek starten. Lancaster maakte het karwei af door polesitter Niall Breen te verslaan in de eerste bocht.

Lancasters teamgenoot Jules Bianchi eindigt als derde, voor de sterk rijdende Nico Hulkenberg, die vanaf de achtste startplaats moest komen. De pechreeks van kampioenschapsleider Mortara duurt nog even voort, want hij moest al starten vanaf de achterste regionen van het veld en wordt even later ook nog van achteren geraakt door Dani Clos. Mortara's achtervleugel breekt af en is daarna kansloos voor punten.

Ook Mika Maki kon deze race geen bedreiging vormen voor Hulkenberg. De Fin moet bij de start om een stilstaande auto heen maar blijft haken met een van zijn achterwielen, waardoor hij moet opgeven met een afgebroken wielophanging. Ook Renger van der Zande kent geen geluk. Hij komt niet weg vanaf zijn vierde startplaats en moet later opgeven in de pits. Henkie Waldschmidt finisht wel, als zeventiende.
