Van der Zande snelste in Rockingham, maar zonder resultaat

Renger van der Zande was tijdens het Brits Formule 3-weekend op het circuit van Rockingham goed op dreef, maar ontving geen beloning voor zijn snelheid. In beide races werd de Nederlander van de baan gereden. De winst ging daardoor naar Nick Tandy in race 1 en Marcus Ericsson boekte zijn allereerste Britse Formule 3-zege in race 2.

Van der Zande: Ik baal hier echt enorm van. In de eerste race had ik de beste start en lag ik op kop, toen Daniel Ricciardo achterop kwam en mijn achtervleugel eraf reed. Ik kon nog in de pits een nieuwe vleugel halen, maar lag vele ronden achter. Ik heb met een kromme auto nog wel de snelste ronde gereden, dus het tempo was duidelijk weer supersnel.

In de tweede race werd ik van de baan gereden door Nick Tandy, maar dat was een race-ongeluk. Hij werd zelf ook geraakt en schoof in mijn zijkant. Ik knalde in de banden en de race was voorbij. Dit is zo ontzettend zonde, ik ben momenteel gewoon de snelste van het veld, dat zegt iedereen en dat bewijs ik ook steeds, maar de resultaten blijven helaas uit door dit soort acties.

Volgende week racen we in Hockenheim en die baan ken ik op m'n duimpje door mijn tijd in de Formule 3 Euroseries. Hopelijk kan ik daar revanche nemen, het zou in ieder geval gerechtigheid zijn.
