Blomqvist wint in Silverstone, Verstappen valt uit

De eerste race van het Europees Formule 3-kampioenschap is gewonnen door polesitter Tom Blomqvist. Max Verstappen kende een desastreus debuut. De jonge Nederlander had een matige start en na de eerste ronde kwam Verstappen met een kapotte voorvleugel naar de pits om niet meer naar buiten te komen.

Achter Blomqvist completeerden Esteban Ocon en Jordan King het podium. De overige Nederlanders in het veld, Dennis van de Laar en Jules Szymkowiak eindigden buiten de punten, als elfde en negentiende respectievelijk.

Vanmiddag om 14.20 uur Nederlandse tijd wordt de tweede race van het weekend verreden. Max Verstappen zal deze wedstrijd vanaf de zesde plek starten, van de Laar als achtste en Szymkowiak als 24e. De pole position is voor de Fransman Esteban Ocon.
