Verstappen, Szymkowiak en Van de Laar vlak bij elkaar

De Nederlanders vertolkten in de vrije trainingen voor het Europees Formule 3-kampioenschap op de Moscow Raceway een bijrol. Ook Max Verstappen kwam er dit keer niet echt aan te pas. In de eerste sessie nog wel met een derde tijd, maar na de korte pauze viel de achtste plek hem ten deel.

Verstappen was nog wel de beste Nederlander. Zijn twee landgenoten volgen in zijn kielzog. Jules Szymkowiak legde beslag op de negende plaats, Dennis van de Laar sloot de trainingen af als tiende. Het onderlinge verschil bedroeg iets meer dan twee tienden.

Vooraan was Tom Blomqvist de snelste. Hij was Antonio Fuoco en kampioenschapleider Esteban Ocon te vlug af. Blomqvist dook met een 1:26.969 als enige onder de 1:27. Later vandaag staat de kwalificatie voor de eerste race op het programma.
