Nikita Mazepin blijft bij Hitech GP in 2017

Hitech GP heeft Nikita Mazepin bevestigd als een van de coureurs voor het Europees kampioenschap Formule 3 in 2017. De 17-jarige Rus maakte dit jaar zijn debuut in die klasse en finishte vier keer in de punten. Met een totaal van 10 punten legde hij beslag op de twintigste plaats in de eindstand.

Mazepin: "Ik heb een behoorlijk eerste seizoen in de Formule 3 achter de rug. De leercurve was uiteraard steil, aangezien het pas mijn tweede jaar in de autosport betrof. Ik slaagde erin om bij vlagen te laten zien dat ik de potentie heb om voor de titel te gaan. Dat is het doel voor 2017."

Hitech GP legde eerder al Ralf Aron vast voor komend seizoen. Mazepin is begin dit jaar door Force India opgepikt, waar hij de rol van ontwikkelingscoureur vertolkt. Hij maakte zijn Formule 1-testdebuut bij de in-season test op het circuit van Silverstone.
