Merhi pakt pole position voor eerste en derde race

Roberto Merhi heeft zich vanmiddag verzekerd van de pole position voor de eerste race van de Formule 3 Euroseries op Paul Ricard. De Spanjaard pakte tevens de pole voor de derde race met een voorsprong van ruim zeven tienden op Marco Wittmann.

Merhi zette zijn beste rondetijd in de laatste ronde van de kwalificatie. Met een 1:51.511 mag de Spanjaard voor het eerst in zijn carriére vanaf de pole starten in de derde race. Marco Wittmann volgde op ruim zeven tienden, terwijl Laurens Vanthoor de derde plaats veroverde. Nigel Melker start de derde race van het weekend op de vijfde positie.

De startgrid van de eerste race wordt bepaald door de tweede snelste rondetijd van elke coureur. Daarbij was ook Merhi de beste. Met een 1:51.649 bleef hij Vanthoor 0.788 seconden voor. Melker pakte een keurige derde startplaats, gevolgd door Daniel Juncadella en Marco Wittmann.
