Roberto Merhi cruist in tweede race wel naar zege Paul Ricard

Roberto Merhi heeft zojuist de tweede Euroseries-race op Paul Ricard op zijn naam geschreven. De Spanjaard wist in deze race wél de eerste positie vast te houden tot aan de finish en bleef Marco Wittmann acht tienden voor. Nigel Melker eindigde als laatste door een late drive trough-penalty.

Laurens Vanthoor mocht weliswaar vanaf de pole position vertrekken, maar kon de eerste plaats niet lang vasthouden. Al in de tweede ronde kwamen Marco Wittmann en Robert Merhi de Belg al voorbij. Merhi was de teleurstelling van de eerste race, waar hij terugviel van de leiding naar de vierde plaats, snel vergeten en pakte in de vierde ronde de leiding over. Die gaf de Spanjaard niet meer af en won de tweede race van het weekend.

Nigel Melker had ondertussen enkele sterke eerste ronden gereden en reed vlak achter Vanthoor op de vijfde plaats. In de laatste ronde wist de Nederlander zijn concurrent voorbij te gaan, maar werd meteen bestraft door de wedstrijdleiding. Volgens hen duwde Melker de Belg van de baan en werd bestraft met dertig seconden. Hierdoor werd Melker als laatste geklasseerd.
