Prema sluit perfect weekend af met dominante 1-2

Er staat momenteen geen maat op het Prema Powerteam. Gisteren scoorde Roberto Merhi al een dubbele overwinning in de eerste twee races van het weekend op de Nürburgring, vanochtend was zijn teamgenoot Daniel Juncadella de rest van het veld te snel af. Merhi eindigde als tweede, terwijl Nigel Melker met de derde plaats 'best of the rest' was.

Juncadella kwam goed weg bij de start en behield de leidende positie. Achter hem passeerde Merhi Nigel Melker meteen voor de tweede plaats en daarna liep het duo flink weg. De achterstand van de concurrentie liep op tot zo'n achttien seconden en Merhi leek zich tevreden te stellen met de tweede stek. Echter, in de laatste ronden werden de banden van Juncadella snel minder en waagde Merhi tot tweemaal toe een aanval. Beide waren niet succesvol en dus eindigde Merhi als tweede achter zijn teammaat.

Melker moest nog strijden om de laatste podiumplaats vast te houden. Zijn teamgenoot Felix Rosenqvist kwam de Nederlander in de dertiende ronde voorbij, maar twee ronden later maakte de Zweed een fout. Melker kwam langszij en kwam uiteindelijk als derde over de finish. Rosenqvist volgde, terwijl het Signature-kwartet de top acht completeerde. Laurens Vanthoor leidde zijn teamgenoten op de vijfde stek, Marco Wittmann eindigde als zesde, Daniel Abt werd zevende en Carlos Munoz achtste.
