Nigel Melker leidt dubbelslag van Mücke in eerste race

Nigel Melker boekt niet alleen successen in de GP3 Series, ook in de Europese Formule 3 gaat het lekker. Vandaag wist de Nederlander de eerste race in Valencia op zijn naam te schrijven door teamgenoot Felix Rosenqvist te verslaan.

Melker ging zij-aan-zij de met Roberto Merhi en Rosenqvist de eerste bocht in. Dat was dan ook meteen het spannendste moment van de race, want daarna was er vooraan het veld geen strijd meer. Het verschil tussen Melker en Rosenqvist, die Merhi in de eerste bocht was gepasseerd, bedroeg op de finish 0.753 seconden.

Merhi eindigde als derde op bijna twee seconden achterstand. Morgen kan hij tijdens de tweede race de titel veiligstellen. Titelrivaal Marco Wittmann kwam namelijk niet verder dan de zesde plaats. Hij moest Daniel Juncadella en Carlos Munoz nog voor zich dulden.
