Heidfeld noemt collega Montagny beetje gek

Het zit Nick Heidfeld nog niet mee in de Formule E. De Duitser beleefde in de openingsrace in Beijing een zware crash door toedoen van Nicolas Prost en in Putrajaya duwde Franck Montagny hem de bandenstapels in. Met de agressief rijdende Montagny heeft Heidfeld het nu wel gehad.

"Van Montagny weten we allemaal dat hij een beetje gek is, dat is normaal gesproken goed voor entertainment en show. Maar soms drukt hij zijn collega's van de baan en eindigt het in tranen, zoals met mij in Maleisië. Hij dook in een gat dat er niet was op een plek waar het niet kon. Ik had de bocht kunnen halen, maar ik kon niet insturen omdat hij daar zat en zo belandde ik in de muur."

"Ik wil het geen pech noemen. Dat anderen er zo naar kijken is prima, maar voor mij is het te makkelijk om dit als excuus te gebruiken. Je moet altijd in eerste instantie naar jezelf kijken. De crash in de vrije training in Putrajaya was duidelijk mijn fout. Dat Prost is bestraft voor het incident in Beijing toont wel aan dat ik daar niet schuldig aan was", aldus Heidfeld.
