Piquet tekent nieuw contract bij China Racing

Kampioenschapleider Nelson Piquet is ook de komende jaren in de Formule E te bewonderen. De Braziliaan heeft een nieuw meerjarig contract met China Racing afgesloten. Eind deze maand bij de ePrix in Londen kan hij zich tot eerste kampioen in de elektrische klasse kronen.

Piquet: "Ik ben heel blij om te bevestigen dat ik ook in de nabije toekomst voor China Racing uit zal komen. We hebben samen geweldige resultaten behaald en we bouwen samen op onze ervaringen in een poging om te groeien naar een hoger niveau. We willen onze naam vestigen als vaste kanshebbers op de titel."

"Ik hou van racen in de Formule E. Het is een opwindende klasse om in uit te komen. Het veld is sterk, de technologie blijft zich maar ontwikkelen en we hebben de fans iets moois te bieden met circuits in het centrum van grote steden en genoeg activiteiten. Maar nu gaat de focus eerst op Londen om dit seizoen goed te eindigen."

Ik ben heel blij voor Nelsinho. Heb hem van zeer dicht gevolgd in z'n periode bij Renault met Alonso als teammaat en hij heeft veel vooruitgang gemaakt op de vlakken waar dat nodig was, en dan vooral het mentale. Zo te zien heeft hij wel nog moeite om een vuist te maken ..
