Porsche vindt het 'te vroeg' voor Formule E

Porsche kijkt met een schuin oog naar de Formule E. De Duitse sportwagenfabrikant zou in de toekomst wel eens een project voor de elektrische klasse op kunnen starten. Porsche lanceerde op de autoshow in Frankfurt een elektrische concept car, maar voor een programma in de Formule E of een andere elektrische serie is het nog te vroeg.

Fritz Enzinger, hoofd LMP1 bij Porsche, verklaarde aan Motorsport.com: "Het is te vroeg om al een plan uit te stippelen voor wat we in de racerij gaan doen met een elektrisch voertuig. We hebben veel ervaring met hybride-technologie, maar dit is compleet nieuw voor ons en vertegenwoordigt de toekomst. De Formule E heeft een veelbelovend eerste seizoen achter de rug, maar is verder nog heel nieuw. We houden de ontwikkelingen scherp in de gaten."

"De Porsche Mission E is vooralsnog ook niet meer dan een concept", besluit Enzinger. Al het gespeculeer over een programma in de autosport met de elektrische auto is dan ook erg prematuur. Porsche focust zich voorlopig vooral op de LMP1-klasse in het World Endurance Championship.
