Buemi wint ePrix van Punta del Este, Frijns pakt punt

Sebastien Buemi heeft de ePrix van Punta del Este gewonnen. Buemi kende een sterke start vanaf de vijfde plek en kon zich snel naar voren werken. Lucas Di Grassi werd tweede, terwijl Jerome D'Ambrosio de derde plek pakte. D'Ambrosio was van pole gestart, maar kon de sterke Buemi en Di Grassi niet achter zich houden. Robin Frijns leek buiten de punten te finishen, na veel tijd te hebben verloren bij zijn pitstop, maar een uitvalbeurt van Nelson Piquet Jr in de slofase zorgde alsnog voor een punt.

De race ging van start zonder Venturi-coureur Jacques Villeneuve. De Canadees had zijn auto in de muur geparkeerd in de kwalificatie en het team had niet genoeg tijd om de auto op te lappen. Bij de start was Buemi goed weg en wist hij Sam Bird meteen te verschalken. Een paar ronden later moest ook Dragon-coureur Jerome D'Ambrosio eraan geloven en kwam Buemi aan de leiding te liggen. Lucas Di Grassi wist zich minder snel naar voren te werken, maar op strategie wist de Braziliaan alsnog langs beide Dragon-coureurs te geraken.

Sam Bird kende geen gemakkelijk weekend. De Brit crashte in de eerste training, reed een mooie derde tijd in de kwalificatie, maar moest zijn DS Virgin-bolide in de race aan de kant zetten. De wedstrijdleiding zwaaide eerst alleen met geel, maar toen de marshalls de wagen van Bird niet weg kregen ging men toch over tot een echte neutralisatie. Buemi zag zijn voorsprong hierdoor afnemen, maar Di Grassi wist na de herstart ook geen vuist te maken.

Mooie gevechten waren er ook. Vergne en Nelson Piquet Jr vochten een mooi duel uit. Een ronde voor de finish raakten beide coureurs elkaar. Beide konden verder, maar voor Piquet Jr was de race een ronde later alsnog over toen hij in de muur reed. Buemi trok zich er niets van aan en kwam met een voorsprong van drie seconden over de finish.

Door de zege is Buemi weer leider in het kampioenschap. De Zwitser heeft nu een punt voorsprong op Di Grassi, terwijl Jerome D'Ambrosio naar de derde plek in het kampioenschap klimt. Robin Frijns staat zesde in het kampioenschap. De eerstvolgende race is op 6 februari. Het Formule E-circus reist dan af naar Argentinië.

Ik snap niet hoe je tijd kan verliezen bij die pitstops. Ze stappen uit en weer in en moeten dan nog een 20 tal seconden wachten, want er is een minimum pitstop tijd..

Ik snap niet hoe je tijd kan verliezen bij die pitstops. Ze stappen uit en weer in en moeten dan nog een 20 tal seconden wachten, want er is een minimum pitstop tijd..

  Viel mij ook op. Hooguit een paar seconden i.v.m. verkeer in de pits. Het was jammer dat Frijns zoveel tijd kwijtraakte in de pits, hij reed geloof ik op P8 of P9 toen hij de pit in kwam, en na de stop lag ie weer ver buiten fe punten.

  Het verschil tussen D'Ambrosio en Di Grassi zat hem in het iets vroeger buiten rijden. Di Grassi kwam iets vroeger buiten maar reed iets langer en trager door de pitstraat waardoor hij op de exact toegestane tijd van 59 seconden uitkwam, terwijl D'Ambrosio op 1:01 uitkwam. Het zijn die 2 seconden die het verschil hebben gemaakt.

  Het viel me toch echt op dat Di Grassi een pak trager buitenreed om net over de lijn op die 59 seconden te komen...het lijkt dus wel te mogen...

Jammer van de technische problemen bij Robin, maar als troost toch nog een puntje. Eerste stint ging niet eens zo slecht, maar vlak voor de pitstop verloor die ruim 20 seconden en viel die ver terug en was het de auto aan de finish brengen.

Verder saaie race, had er meer van verwacht op dit leuk circuitje.

  Inderdaad, volgens mij was het ook allemaal buiten beeld. Heb niet gezien wat er nou mis ging maar hij ging als 8ste naar binnen en kwam er als 13 of 14de uit... Met gelukt toch nog een puntje.

  het was al het hele weekend raak voor Andretti, in de kwali gaf de electromotor ook al problemen en moesten ze in de pauze tussen kwali en race alles nog wisselen (hier gelukkig geen stomme straffen voor)
