Da Costa stopt met DTM: focus volledig op Formule E

Antonio Feliz da Costa heeft besloten de DTM aan het einde van 2016 gedag te zeggen. De Portugees komt sinds 2014 uit in het Duitse kampioenschap voor BMW, nadat zijn Formule 1 aspiraties de kast in konden. Da Costa won in zijn DTM periode een race en zal de focus nu leggen op de DTM.

Da Costa leek lange tijd in de run om in 2014 een van de Toro Rosso's te besturen. Red Bull besloot echter de steun stop te zetten en koos voor Daniil Kvyat. Na zijn entree in de DTM in 2014 begon Da Costa ook halverwege dat jaar te racen in de Formule E. Nu BMW een grotere rol krijgt binnen het team van Andretti gelooft Da Costa meer in de Formule E.

Da Costa begint over drie weken aan zijn derde Formule E-seizoen. De Portugees kende vorig seizoen veel pech en zag veel kostbare punten verloren gaan. Net als in de afgelopen jaren zal Da Costa ook namens BMW actief blijven in de ADAC GT en VLN.
