NextEV-teambaas Martin Leach overleden

Martin Leach, mede-oprichter van NextEV en teambaas van het gelijknamige Formule E-team, is gisteren overleden aan de gevolgen van kanker. Leach was in zijn leven werkzaam voor Ford, Mazda en Maserati en hij was in 2008 betrokken bij een reddingspoging voor het Formule 1-team van Super Aguri. In 2015 kwam hij bij NextEV terecht. Leach werd 59 jaar.

NextEV-voorzitter William Li zegt in een verklaring: "Met het diepste verdriet moet ik mededelen dat een geweldige vriend, een leider en een van de oprichters van NextEV is overleden. Martin Leach heeft zijn gevecht met een verschrikkelijke ziekte niet gewonnen. Martin was een echte strijder en zelfs in zijn laatste dagen maakte hij zich nog druk om de progressie van NextEV. Wij zullen hem eren door ons best te blijven doen en zijn missie te vervolmaken. Wij bij NextEV sturen ons medeleven naar zijn familie. Rust in vrede, Martin. Mogen ze in de hemel ook racen."
