Berlijn bevestigt Tempelhof als locatie ePrix

De ePrix van Berlijn keert definitief terug naar het voormalig vliegveld Tempelhof. Dat heeft het stadsbestuur aangekondigd. De Formule E-race in de Duitse hoofdstad vond in 2015 al plaats op Tempelhof. Een doorslaand succes was dat niet, waarna in 2016 een parkoers in een ander deel van de stad werd uitgestippeld.

De lokale groene partij verhinderde echter dat de ePrix daar weer plaats kon vinden, waarna Berlijn teruggreep op Tempelhof. Burgemeester Michael Müller: "Autosport met elektrische aandrijving is pure reclame voor innovatieve technologieën en duurzame mobiliteit. Elektrisch vervoer vormt de sleutel tot milieuvriendelijk transport in de steden van de 21ste eeuw, inclusief Berlijn. Ik ben dan ook dolblij dat we een Formule E-race mogen organiseren. Dit evenement brengt fans op de banken en bewijst de performance van deze technologie aan een breder publiek."
