NextEV NIO trekt Filippi aan als opvolger van Piquet

Het Formule E-team van NextEV NIO heeft op de ochtend van de eerste dag van de eerste test ter voorbereiding op het nieuwe seizoen de line-up en de livery voor de komende jaargang gepresenteerd. Nelson Piquet is zoals bekend vertrokken naar Jaguar. Voor hem in de plaats komt Luca Filippi als teamgenoot van Oliver Turvey.

Filippi: "Laat me eerst iedereen binnen NIO bedanken voor deze gelegenheid om in de Formule E te mogen racen. Het is een nieuwe elektrische wereld voor mij, een nieuw systeem van racen dat georiënteerd is op een toekomst vol talent en schone technologie. Ik ben zeer enthousiast om daar onderdeel van uit te gaan maken. Tijdens onze eerste test samen in Spanje ontwikkelde ik gelijk een goed gevoel in de auto en binnen het team. Met een stoeltje bij NextEV NIO voor het komende Formule E-seizoen komt een droom uit. Ik verheug me op de samenwerking met Oliver, teambaas Gerry Hughes en de rest van het team."
