Nissan lost Renault per 2018/2019 af in de Formule E

Nissan gaat toetreden tot de Formule E, zo heeft het Japanse merk op de Tokyo Motor Show bekendgemaakt. Nog niet komend seizoen, maar voor de jaargang 2018/2019 stapt de autofabrikant in de elektrische klasse. Dit gaat ten koste van Renault, dat tot dezelfde groep behoort als Nissan.

Formule E-baas Alejandro Agag: "Dat een naam als Nissan de Formule E betreedt is een belangrijke mijlpaal voor onze serie. Niet alleen is het geweldig om een nieuwe autofabrikant in de Formule E-familie te verwelkomen, het is ook geweldig dat voor het eerst een Japanse autofabrikant in onze klasse actief zal zijn. Dat toont aan hoe globaal de elektrische revolutie is."

"Japan is een vooruitstrevend land als het gaat om nieuwe technologieën en de Formule E wordt daar op de voet gevolgd. De verschuiving richting duurzame mobiliteit is in gang gezet en het is niet te stuiten. Ik kijk ernaar uit om het logo van Nissan te zien op de nieuwe auto's voor ons vijfde seizoen."
