Felix Rosenqvist wint in Marrakech en pakt leiding kampioenschap

Mahindra-coureur Felix Rosenqvist heeft de ePrix van Marrakech gewonnen. De Zweed startte de race als derde en wist slim gebruik te maken van het feit dat eDams-coureur Sebastien Buemi een probleem kende met de 'fanboost'. Wat de overwinning van Rosenqvist extra knap maakt is het feit dat er een probleem was met de tweede wagen. Het probleem werd kort voor de start van de race ontdekt, waardoor het voor de Mahinda-monteurs een race tegen de klok was om de auto op tijd klaar te krijgen.

Vorig jaar reed Rosenqvist ook al sterk door de straten van het Marokkaanse Marrakech, maar toen moest de Zweed de overwinning laten aan Buemi. Bij de start was Buemi als beste weg, gevolgd door Sam Bird en Rosenqvist. Rondenlang reden de heren achter elkaar, totdat de wagen van Bird een klein probleem kende en snelheid verloor. Rosenqvist profiteerde meteen en pakte de tweede plaats.

Na de verplichte wagenwissel was Rosenqvist de snelste man op de baan en de Zweed opende de jacht op Buemi. Met nog enkele ronden te gaan wist Rosenqvist de leiding over te nemen en de race als winnaar af te sluiten. Door de winst is Rosenqvist ook de nieuwe leider in het kampioenschap. Sam Bird werd nog derde, gevolgd door een sterke rijdende Nelson Piquet Jr. op de vierde plek in de Jaguar. Jean-Eric Vergne reed een inhaalrace die werd besloten op een vijfde plaats, gevolgd door Jose-Maria Lopez. Lopez, tweevoudig wereldkampioen in de WTCC, keerde dit weekend terug achter het stuur van een Formule E-auto bij Dragon en scoorde meteen de eerste punten van het jaar voor het team.

Voor Audi was het een weekend om snel te vergeten. Lucas di Grassi kende een technisch probleem in de beslissende kwalificatiesessie en moest ook in de race opgeven. Teamgenoot Daniel Abt kreeg een straf vanwege een aanrijding met Alex Lynn en kon geen potten meer breken na het inlossen van zijn straf.

De volgende ePrix is het eerste weekend van februari. Plaats van handeling is dan de Santiago de Chile.

Het was een spannende race met mooie gevechten door het hele veld, begin het steeds leuker te vinden. En René Hoogterp is een topcommentator, die echt onwijs scherp is en veel info geeft tijdens de races.

  Ik heb ook zitten kijken , maar ik kan er niks aan doen , ik vind er geen zak aan ( heb niet de hele race gezien ) .

  Persoonlijk vind ik de opzet van FOX mooier met Dario als race expert er naast maar Rene is inderdaad ook erg scherp. Ik snap nu na deze race al helemaal niet waarom Rosenqvist FE reed en Erikkson F1... Long Bow Finance moet toch ook inzien dat Rosenqvist veel meer talent heeft. Alles wat die aanraakt wint hij.

  Met je eens, wordt stiekem steeds leuker. Al die bekende jongens ook, met veel gelijkwaardiger materiaal. Stedencircuits.
  Vind de auto's best gaaf en dat geluid is eigenlijk geweldig. Soort van Star Wars boost..

Voor het eerst een hele race gekeken. Moet zeggen dat ik het erg leuk vond, meer actie in 1 race FE dan in 5 races F1. Had soms wel het gevoel dat ik naar Galactica keek met dat Viper-geluid....maar vond het wel apart.
