Agag wordt voorzitter in plaats van algemeen directeur

Formule E-oprichter Alejandro Agag gaat de voorzitter van de elektrische klasse worden. De Spanjaard was de algemeen directeur, maar hij gaat de komende tijd vervangen worden in die functie. Tot het moment dat er een vervanger is gevonden, blijft Agag in zijn functie als algemeen directeur.

"Het is voor mij tijd om een nieuwe functie te gaan vervullen in de snelst groeiende autosportklasse van de wereld. Ik ben erg trots op wat we gedaan hebben samen met de FIA, ons managementteam, onze aandeelhouders, onze partners en de teams."

Agag verwacht dat hij in zijn nieuwe rol meer kan gaan bijdragen aan de Formule E. "Als voorzitter zal ik beter in staat zijn om onze nieuwe algemeen directeur en ons management te helpen groeien in de sport waarvan ik geloof dat het de toekomst van de autosport is."

Simon Freer, de huidige voorzitter, voegde daaraan toe: "Onder Alejandro's leiding als algemeen directeur heeft de Formule E zich gevestigd als een leidende autosportklasse en is het op weg om haar indrukwekkende prestaties door te zetten. We kijken er naar uit om door te gaan met Alejandro als voorzitter en de nieuwe algemeen directeur, zodat we de Formule E naar het volgende niveau kunnen brengen."
