GEOX Dragon neemt afscheid van Günther en haalt Nasr als vervanger

Felipe Nasr mag vanaf de komende ePrix in Mexico-Stad plaatsnemen in de Formule E-bolide van GEOX Dragon. De Braziliaan zal Maximilian Günther de rest van het seizoen vervangen. Dat meldt e-racing365.com.

Nasr reed in 2015 en 2016 in de Formule 1 namens Sauber. Daarna maakte hij een succesvolle overstap naar de Amerikaanse sportscars. In 2018 werd hij kampioen in de WeatherTech SportsCar Championship en eind januari werd hij met Pipo Derani en Eric Curran tweede in de 24 uur van Daytona. Ook in 2019 rijdt Nasr weer mee in het WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

Daarnaast vervangt Nasr dus met ingang van de eerstvolgende ePrix Günther bij GEOX Dragon. Tijdens de race in Marrakech was hij al aanwezig bij het team, want hij zou daar deelnemen aan de rookie test. Uiteindelijk kwam daar niets van terecht, maar de oorzaak daarvan bleken lange onderhandelingen over een zitje in de klasse te zijn. Dat is dus gelukt, want op 16 februari neemt hij als teamgenoot van Jose Maria Lopez deel aan de race in Mexico-Stad.

Nasr zal hoogstwaarschijnlijk nog één Formule E-race missen. Hij wil graag zijn titel in het IMSA verdedigen, waardoor hij mogelijk de ePrix van Rome moet laten schieten. Die wedstrijd botst met de IMSA-race door de straten van Long Beach. Mogelijk stapt Günther dan weer in de bolide van Dragon, maar tot op heden is dat nog niet duidelijk.

  Sja, ik ben Ericsson fan en in 2016, vond ik Ericsson gewoon de betere. Toch had ik Nasr ook graag nog een jaar gezien.

OT het rijk geeft geen geld uit om de F1 naar Nederland te halen . Dat is belastinggeld zeggen ze . En voetbal dan ? Al die politie ieder weekend dat kost geen belastinggeld

  De overheid (dus wij) betaalt voor de openbare orde, niet voor evenementen / wedstrijden.
  Dat is ook bij een eventuele F1 in Zandvoort / Assen.
  Dat voor voetbal dit in extreme is gelopen (daarin heb je gelijk) zegt iets over de type, soms intolerante "fans".

Teambaas van Dragon heeft al eens aangegeven dat Nasr eigenlijk eerste keus was, maar dat men vanwege "omstandigheden" Günther (eigenlijk de reserverijder) in de auto gelepeld heeft. Die omstandigheden zullen waarschijnlijk $$$$ zijn geweest die Nasr nog niet had en nu wel ;) Kan Günther weer terug reserverijder spelen.

  Gunther scheen slechts een 3 race contract te hebben. Deed zeker niet onder voor Lopez. Voor de echte kenners: Wisten jullie dat Lopez een F1 contract had in 2009 voor 2010?...
  
  Helaas... USF1 sloot het doek al in Januari nog ver voor de auto klaar was. Daar ging zijn droom.

  @TYLAHUNTER tja of het met echte kenners te maken heeft.
  Iedereen die de F1 volgt (ik zelfs vanaf 1994) had dit kunnen weten.
  Hoorde USF1 nog zo zeggen dat hun geen budget plafon nodig hadden en alles in kan en kruiken was. Dat hebben we gezien :p
