Formule E onthult nieuwe lay-out voor ePrix van Rome

Rome keert komend seizoen terug op de Formule E-kalender, zij het met een ander circuit dan voorheen. De nieuwe baan door de straten van de Italiaanse renstal volgt een route van 3,385 kilometer lang, met negentien bochten, en voert langs het Palazzo dei Congressi, het Piazzale Marconi en het Palazzo della Civilta Italiana.

Frederic Espinos, sportief directeur bij de Formule E: "Zoals altijd hebben we een ware uitdaging gecreëerd en in mijn ogen is dit een van onze beste lay-outs ooit. Het belangrijkste was om een circuit te bedenken dat zo min mogelijk impact zou hebben op de stad, waardoor we opnieuw moesten nadenken over de locatie van het circuit. Het karakter van Rome is in de nieuwe lay-out behouden gebleven, met veel hoogteverschillen en verschillende ondergronden."

"Rome is een vrij uniek stratencircuit op onze kalender, want het is een baan met een aantal snelle en vloeiende bochten en bochten met verschillende radiussen. Dat komt door het wegennetwerk waar we het mee moeten doen. Het resultaat is een circuit waar rijders het verschil kunnen maken. We hebben de plannen voorgelegd aan het comité voor coureurs en zij waren laaiend enthousiast, want het is een supersnel en uitdagend circuit."

Bla bla bla......ze moeten eens op een echt circuit gaan rijden.......moet je kijken hoe snel die accu's leeg zijn.

  In mijn ogen is dit de eerste echte lay-out die echt noemenswaardig is! De baan is langer dan Monaco. Valencia is een echt circuit, Marakesh is net als Melbourne Park een semi stratencircuit/ semi permanent circuit dus ze hebben wel een paar locaties die wel racewaardig zijn... Hoogteverschil kost meer energie... dat is in Rome goed aanwezig. Deze baan zou ik graag ook in andere klasses zien zoals WTCR bijvoorbeeld.
  
  Ik geef wel eerlijk toe... locaties als Parijs/Chili/Berlijn/London zijn niet goed genoeg als circuit.

  @Harry, iets wordt als compleet nieuw opgestart (de FE) en ik hoor zoveel mensen dingen roepen als "ze moeten eens op een echt circuit gaan rijden", "het is niks in vergelijking met de F1", "het is veels te langzaam" etc etc etc.
  
  Ik snap die opmerkingen niet, wat hat je verwacht dat zo'n raceklasse uit het niets meteen alles goed heeft staan? Nooit van ontwikkeling gehoort?
  
  Ik vindt de FE wel intressant maar vergelijk het niet met andere klasses. Kunnen er dingen verbeterd worden? Jazeker! Schaf fanboost af pas de hoeveelheid bruikbare energie niet aan na een safety car periode zijn twee dingen die bij me opkomen. Al met al petje af voor de FE die uit het niets toch een (voor mij iig) leuke raceklasse hebben opgezet.
  
  Trouwens vindt ik de pitstraat op dit circuit erg grappig, je bent er toch aan gewend dat zo'n ding parralel loopt aan (meestal) de start/finish lijn.

  FE bestaat alweer 6/7 jaar hé, dus echt supersnel gaat die "ontwikkeling" ook weer niet...

  @edje 6/7 jaar is natuurlijk helemaal geen lange tijd als je kijkt naar het opzetten van een race klasse. Al helemaal niet als je dat ook nog eens doet met een aandrijflijn die nog volop ontwikkeld en verbetert moet worden.
  
  Nogmaals, begrijp me niet verkeerd, ik zeg niet dat de FE niet moet verbeteren maar voor een jonge racekalsse met een niet eerder gezien concept doen ze het, in mijn ogen, goed. Je moet het alleen wel willen zien.
  
  Ik weet dat het zakenleven een volledig andere wereld is maar en zijn genoeg voorbeelden van bedrijven die nu succesvol zijn maar in de eerste jaren ook eerst moesten ontwikkelen voor zij zover waren om de vruchten van hun succes te plukken. Amazon deed er volgens mij een jaar of negen over bijvoorbeeld. Tesla kan ook als voorbeeld worden gegeven.

Even een serieuze vraag, zijn die auto's allemaal gelijk of kunnen de verschillende fabrikanten daadwerkelijk een eigen aandrijflijn ontwikkelen?

  Kan je eigen aandrijflijn ontwikkelen, kijk bv hoeveel verschillende autofabrikanten aanwezig zijn. Autos zijn wel standaard (ala F2/F3)
